Lake Wabukayne, which translates to “White Snow,” is named after the Mississauga Chief who signed the Toronto and Mississauga Purchases in 1805. Meanwhile, Lake Aquitaine takes its name from the historic region in the south of France. Built over 30 years ago, there are archival photos from the city’s history, including a brief period where boating was allowed on the lakes, with Hazel overseeing the construction during that time.
